Real estate investing touches virtually everything in life.

The Asian Tsunami of 2004 is a colossal event involving real estate investing, in addition to the primary tragedy of unimaginable proportions in human death resulting from the forces of nature. The tsunami affected real estate investing in numerous ways. The beaches that were washed away by the tidal waves devastated someone’s efforts in real estate investing. Destroyed homes, hotels, and businesses reflected losses to someone’s real estate investing efforts. And reconstruction will be a new attempt at real estate investing.

Real estate investing is the purchase of the residence we call “home.” The choice of our residential purchase may be motivated solely from the perspective of a domicile with layout and amenities we have personally chosen for comfort. Or, we may purchase a home with the primary focus on future resale value. A series of well-chosen homes over a lifetime can create substantial net worth from real estate investing. In fact, real estate in the form of a personal home comprises the bulk of a personal estate for most Americans.

Twenty years ago I chose to purchase a very large home with primary focus on income generation. The 5000 sq.ft. house was far too large for the needs of my wife and me because our children were already off to college. But the layout of the house was ideal for two income-generating apartments, in addition to an adequate unit for us. For 20 years my two apartments have generated enough monthly revenue to pay the mortgage on our $ 500,000 home.

Because we are all bound by gravity to this terra firma we call earth, real estate investing will always be central to our existence. Some take real estate investing for granted, such as in the purchase of a home. Others capitalize on real estate investing as a profession and career. The tenant will depend upon the real estate investing of a profit-oriented entrepreneur for a home. The professional real estate investor sees real estate investing as a business.

Real estate investing TV infomercials and seminars have popularized the real estate investing profession. And because the marketplace has responded to this invitation to gain an education in real estate investing, the fees charged for learning real estate investing have gouged the would-be investor. http://www.real—estate—investing.com/information/

The usual $ 3000 fee required to learn the basics of real estate investing in a real estate investing seminar is unnecessary and exorbitant. A sound real estate investing program costing as little as $ 100 is equally sufficient for learning the basics of real estate investing.

Once involved in real estate investing, don’t overlook the need for insurance. Real estate investing should always be combined with hazard insurance protection. However, “acts of God” are sometimes excluded from these policies. We may never be able to protect ourselves completely from a tsunami or any other natural calamity. Losses are possible that cannot be eliminated with insurance. However, regardless of this possibility that sometimes is unavoidable, real estate investing is usually a very wise investment that pays very generous rewards.
